She became "transformed" after her husband had an affair..She was religious but went kind of nuts out of fear that he was going to divorce her..Her pastor coached her to 'become a better wife' to keep her lying, cheating husband from running off with the woman he was having an affair with...The 'transformation' was part of their agreement for him to end the affair...

i kinda disagree with the attacking ur abuser thing being wrong, abusers shouldn’t be respected or treated as living beings imo, attacking an abuser, even to the point of permanently harming them, will never be wrong to me, physical harm isn’t always bad, hurting others isn’t always bad, especially when who you’re hurting is an abuser, assaulted, grapist, like idk.

Thank you so much for being honest about this book! As a poet ( who writes mostly in limerick style) I find it to be mediocre at best. And Yes definitely it’s an insult to me that this book has been so popular and hyped! It’s not poetry as I know poetry. No form , structure, and Random, lazy, uninteresting, simple- minded, uncreative fillers, etc. Maybe 6 “poems “ in the entire book that moved me with some level of emotion. I’ve watched her videos and I know she’s talented. But this work is overrated for sure. Which makes me ponder what low quality audience bought this book🤪

Related to the "mental health advice" part, I used to self harm for two main reasons. First, as a punishment when I was in uni. Whenever I did badly in a class or exam, or I had a shitty day, instead of spending days feeling like crap about it I'd cut myself and get it over with, move on. And the second reason is bc I have terrible insomnia, I cannot sleep for the life of me, ans I couldn't get a doctor to give me sleeping pills. Harming myself let me fall asleep almost immediately, and a deep, proper sleep to. There are only 3 ways I can sleep like that, with clonazepam (which I can't get a damn prescription for, doctors are useless), alcohol, and self harm. The last option is the cheaper and easier one. I haven't done it in a while now, but god I miss sleeping so well.

I really don’t think the stealing your moms money joke shouldn’t been in here along with the inappropriate stuff as kids who look up to Miranda would want to BE like her and as impressionable as kids are, they wouldn’t see the satire in this and would actually take this as advice and would actually be more likely to literally take money from their parents. I know when I was a kid I would have probably took this as “good advice” if this book was around that time and I’m pretty certain much other kids would as well. Honestly I hate this book and still can’t believe this book is geared towards a younger audience.

Based on information from Dr. Kirk Honda on psychology in Seattle, narcissistic personality disorder is treatable. So I feel that people who perpetrate narcissistic abuse have a responsibility to seek treatment, just like an abuser who gets drunk and is violent has a responsibility to get treatment around sobriety etc. While both types of abusers may be suffering from underlying health issues, and need to receive help, it doesn't mean a victim should feel compelled to stay with them and support their recovery. It also doesn't change the fact that their actions are abusive and it is their responsibility to change that
